We are on Week 8 of our 12-week The Artist’s Way journey! As a part of our creative process, we’re jumping on Substack Live and sending a newsletter every week to talk through our past week and new goals.
In Week 7, we had ….lots of quiet? Rest days? Connection to ourselves? Confirmation that we’re trying our best?
✍️ How many days did you write morning pages?
Viv: 7/7 — I really pushed myself to write my pages every day. I also allowed for a lot of flexibility. During the week it was morning pages and during the weekend it was afternoon pages. Progress.
Sam: 4/7 - Travel knocked me out of routine, but when I did do morning pages, they completely uplifted my day. This week, I really am trying to commit to 7/7.
👀 What was your Artist’s Date?
Sam: I went to a few vintage shops while visiting Toronto. I didn’t go in with expectations and I scored two (incredible) jackets.
Viv: One morning, I made breakfast and listened to music while eating. I focused on the lyrics and just sat with myself. I felt so calm.
✨ Did you notice any synchronicities?
Sam: Yes. Always. Staying open to the magic without expectations was a big one. A lesson I learned from my wedding last year and one I was reacquainted with this trip, when I had no plans but to see an Indian guru (again, without expectations). I was blown away by the feels, the insights, and the renewed feeling of trust in everything that is happening right now.
Viv: I actually didn’t have any big ones jump out at me last week. I had some big life realizations though and I wonder how much of that was just committing to being quiet and listening.
🏃♀️➡️ What is your intention for the week?
Sam: I want to say no to things. My plate is full. I honor my body, rest, and natural rhythms.
Viv: I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and trust that I have my own back.
If you’re doing The Artist’s Way with us, we’d love to hear how it’s going! Are you keeping up with your pages? What artist dates have you gone on?
