I found less resources this week. Less creators who could offer a tangible way to help. I don’t think it’s because of a lack of trying. I think it’s because this week has felt especially out of our control. All we could do was ride the wave of it all.
Here are some starting points where surrendering and serenity go hand in hand.
The Serenity Prayer: (replace God with whatever “higher power” you turn to). Fun fact I learned from a friend: Reinhold Niebuhr wrote the prayer around the same time he became a vocal leader against anti-semitism.
Al-Anon: Most 12-step programs have online, zoom, and phone call meetings 24/7.
Meditation practice: I use Gabby Bernstein’s app, but Calm is also a favorite.
Books: Books distract us and create worlds we can escape to. I’m currently reading: Non-fiction/The Wise Heart: A Guide to the Universal Teachings of Buddhist Psychology by Jack Kornfield and Fiction/Wallflower by Samantha Leigh (it’s on Kindle Unlimited).
Strength training: I find a lot of mental strength in physical exertion. I’ve been working with Cristina (@tonedwithcristina on IG), and she sends me my workout plan every Sunday. She’s amazing to work with.
